March Events

March, the gateway to Spring, is a very busy month here in San Diego. With everything from family friendly excursions to rowdy over 21 fun, it’s a great time to be in america’s finest city.

Concerts:

March 10th – Jimmy Buffett Parrot heads rejoice
Our old pal Jimmy and his boat drinks are steaming back into San Diego’s Viejas Arena this month. Buffett devotees will not want to miss this rousing, rum filled concert going experience.

March 11th, 18th, 25th – Winter Concerts at Coronado Ferry Landing
Throughout the month of March, visitors can enjoy free live music every Sunday at the Coronado Ferry landing from 1pm till 4pm.

March 17th – ShamROCK St. Patrick’s Day Party
Looking for a St. Paddy’s Day party? The Gaslamp, as usual, is the place to be. With live music, clubs, bars, adult beverages, and Irish food ShamRock is the perfect place for the 21 and over set to celebrate one of the best party days of the year.

 

Culture:

March 17th – Free Art Event

The Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park is holding a free after dark art festival with food, music, and fun.March 17th – SOHO’s Annual Historic Home Tour
Guests will tour five historic homes from 10am till 4pm. All homes in the tour were built between 1904-1913 and are loc
ated on Historic Bankers Hill. Tickets are $30 when purchased in advance and $35 if purchased on the day of the event.

Family Fun:

March 1st – The Plunge Re-opens
Belmont Park’s historic 86-year-old aquatics center and home to the Wave House is celebrating their grand reopening by lowering the entrance fee to 25 cents per person. One dollar equals fun for a family of four.

March 9, 16, 23, 30 – Friday Night Ghost Tours
At the Whaley House San Diego’s favorite haunted house is hosting Friday night tours of this popular hotbed of paranormal activity. Let’s hope no one brings home any new “friends.”

March 11th – Ugly Dog Contest their own kite.

It is a great opportunity for families to enjoy the beautiful weekend weather. Dog lovers celebrate the faces only a mother could love at the Del Mar

March 18th – Family Days at the Maritime Museum
With plenty of activities for kids and free entry for anyone under 12-years-old, the Maritime Museum’s family Day is an inexpensive way to treat the family to some educational fun.

March 20th – Birch Aquarium 20th Anniversary
The popular Birch Aquarium in La Jolla is turning 20 and San Diegans are getting a gift. On March 20th, the aquarium’s 20th anniversary, San Diego residents get in for half price.

 

Active Adventures:

March 11th – San Diego Half Marathon
The 13.1 mile race begins at 9am. This scenic race starts and ends at Petco Park and winds through downtown San Diego. There will be live music courtesy of the chart toping band, Lighthouse and plenty of opportunities for fun and entertainment.

March 17th – St. Paddy’s Day Swim
While some celebrate St. Patrick ’s Day with green beer and corned beef, the more health conscious may choose to celebrate the holiday with a refreshing dip . The race starts at 9am in the La Jolla Cove.

March 17th – Bulldog Race
This St. Patrick’s Day 26 mile bike race takes place on Camp Pendleton.
