On May 22nd, after more than twenty years of keeping San Diego up-to-date on an array of entertainment news and features, the San Diego Entertainer Magazine re-opened its pages – this time in an electronic format at www.sdentertainer.com.

To celebrate its rebirth, the Entertainer threw a Launch Party at 710 Beach Club on Memorial Day Weekend. In the shadow of Crystal Pier and the Pacific Beach boardwalk, the Entertainer launch party was a steady night of live music, autographs and pictures with the Charger girls, and a huge raffle benefiting the San Diego chapter of Stand Up For Kids, a non-profit organization who’s mission is to get homeless kids off the streets and into a more nurturing and safer environment.

The festivities ran from 9 pm until 1 am, with four local bands trading off 45-minute sets. Local bands Monsters from Mars, Misc. Ailments, A Scribe Amidst the Lions, and Life In Orbit gave the crowd more than they bargained for with only a $6 cover.

Raffle prizes included gift certificates to local shops Taco Surf, Amore Pizza, Sunglass City, Desert Sun Tanning, Tokyo House Sushi, and Chronic Tattoo. Bigger prizes given away towards the end of the night included a Muir Mini 29” skateboard (a $129 value), 8 rounds of golf at The Vineyard in Escondido (a $560 value), and the grand prize 2-night trip to Las Vegas packaged with free tickets to some shows & nightclubs (an $800 value).

The grand prize was raffled off at approximately 1:30am, and we were more than happy to hand the prize to a Stand Up For Kids volunteer holding the winning ticket.

We will be announcing more events soon, so keep checking out the San Diego Entertainer for updates!
