Entertainer Local Music Alliance Playlist Oct 2009

Last month we released our first Local Music Alliance (LMA) Playlist and it went over better than we hoped it would! With over 1,000 views, and 500+ votes, the Local Music Alliance is quickly making itself known in our fine city. The Local Music Alliance is here to stay as a hub of exposing the great sounds of San Diego.

Last month’s winner, with 292 votes, is Children of Nova. The boys from Children of Nova also recently won a San Diego Music Award for Best Hard Rock and will soon be featured on the gaming sensation Rock Band. To find out more about CON, check out the Entertainer’s exclusive interview and acoustic performance for the band.

For October, we asked one of the LMA’s sponsors, PING Music Group, to pick the playlist. Judging from this playlist, they seem to have a solid grasp on good music. Ranging from hip hop to reggae to rock, the October playlist is bound to find at least one of your buttons and push it.

Remember, all of the bands involved were nice enough to give you their music FREE, so take full advantage of that. Click the button above to download this month’s playlist and then vote for your favorite song.

Put the playlist on your I-Pod, burn a CD and make copies for your friends! When you have listened to the tracks come back to the Entertainer website and vote for your favorite song.

Your votes will determine the top bands who will play at a quarterly competition for a spot at the finals where a winner will receive $5,000 in marketing for their band from PING Music Group!

Go to myspace.com/somasd and check out Misc. Ailments on our blog. Keep working as hard as you have been guys, you are one of the hardest working bands in San Diego and you have our support. Looking forward to having you back before the end of this year.

I don’t think the hard work, talent and the passion of bands should be reflected upon or based by this method of voting.

Judging bands this way does not seem to be fair since one person can sit at the computer for hours and cast vote after vote, unless of course you have a voting method set up where the voter has to register to vote and that way, only one vote can be posted per fan per day. Just a thought for future reference.

You should throw a show with all ten bands or two shows with 5 bands each and just have a grand old time and judge the bands with a panel of reputable judges / musicians / and base it upon their live stage performance, songs, writing, etc.
All the bands are great though, have worked with most of them.
