Where to Have Christmas Dinner Out in San Diego

By  |

Do you hate cooking Christmas or Christmas Eve dinner? Or would you just prefer to leave the cooking and clean up to someone else this holiday? That sounds like a great gift to me! Whether you’re looking for a way to unwind on Christmas Eve before Santa comes down the chimney, or would like a way to overindulge on the holiday itself, San Diego restaurants have something for you. From Coronado to Ocean Beach, you can find a Christmas menu near you.

Primavera Ristorante in Coronado

Primavera Ristorante is changing up the traditional Christmas dinner this year. Enjoy a decadent five-course feast inspired by the age-old Italian tradition, The Feast of the Seven Fishes. Executive Chef Jorge Gonzales has created the festive meal available exclusively on Saturday, Dec. 24.

The prix fixe menu is $65 per person and will begin with bruschetta di capesante gratinate (scallops au gratin atop a crostini). For the salad course, guests will enjoy insalata di mare, a mixed greens salad topped with shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels with saffron dressing. Enjoy zuppa di pesce alla pescatora (fish and vegetable soup), baccala alla vesuviana (salt cod with tomatoes and capers), and finish with mousse al vin santo e cantucci (Vin Santo mousse with strawberry biscotti).

Seating for the dinner is limited and reservations are encouraged by calling 619.435.0454.

Marina Kitchen Restaurant in Downtown

Marina Kitchen is hosting a holiday buffet on December 24 from 5:30 – 10:30pm. Diners will enjoy chestnut soup, salad, prime rib, lobster, and lemon tart or bread pudding for dessert. The buffet is $45 per person. Enjoy dinner with a view at this beautiful hotel on the marina. They also have a great wine, beer and cocktail list to enjoy.

Solare Ristorante Italiano Pizzeria Lounge in Liberty Station

Join the friendly team at Solare for a special Christmas Eve dinner. If you’ve never been to Solare, you’re missing out. They will make you feel like family. Which is fitting because the meal will feature traditional dishes from Sicily which Chef Accursio learned from his Mother and Grandmother. That means that you won’t be leaving hungry after this 4-course dinner. The dinner is $59 for adults.

Red Door Restaurant & Wine Bar in Mission Hills

Red Door has been making waves in the culinary world recently. They’ve been mentioned in The Wall Street Journal and Travel Channel, and are a local favorite. They’ve recently transformed The Wellington which is next door into a farm-to-table focus with a delightful bar. On Christmas Eve, Chef Miguel Valdez is transforming their menu with a special three-course Mexican holiday dinner featuring tamales like garden vegetable tamales with goat cheese and a duck confit tamale with port wine sauce.

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
