Taste of Bird Rock – Bringing the community together

Save the date — Thursday, July 16 — for the 7th Annual Taste of Bird Rock.

At this neighborhood celebration and fundraising event, attendees will enjoy various bands and the musical talents of Jones Revival as they stroll along the pedestrian friendly La Jolla Boulevard sampling food specialties from nearby restaurants and receiving discounts to local merchants.

Additional restaurants are participating this year and include Bahia Don Bravo, Beaumont’s, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Bird Rock Pizza & Sports Grill, Bird Rock Yogurt, Cass Street Café, Cotton Patch Grill, La Basil Thai, Lupi Vino Cucina, Mariscos, Salami Shop, Starbucks and Station Sushi.

This neighborhood party is family oriented and offers many fun-filled activities. Children can enjoy face painting, carnival games, arts and crafts, several large inflatable jumps and a petting zoo. Several animals will also be available for adoption from a local rescue shelter.

The theme of this year’s event is “Opportunity through Community.” In the current economic climate, organizers wanted to focus on the positive side of business and shine the spotlight on fellow merchants, neighbors and friends in the community who contribute their good will and service to organizations and causes that they are most passionate about.

The Bird Rock Community Council coordinates this annual fundraiser with proceeds going to Bird Rock Elementary and sister school Cesar Chavez Elementary.
