Burger Lounge – Serving up tasty, “green” hamburgers
Summer is the season for grilling up tasty hamburgers and sipping a cold beer. But if you want the night off from your own grill, head over to Burger Lounge, one of San Diego’s best burger joints.
The Burger Lounge motto of doing a “common thing, uncommonly well” translates into great burgers served in a fast-casual environment. The Burger Lounge menu is simple and features organic, grass-fed beef from Tallgrass Beef Company. The premium burgers are served on “home style” buns with crisp lettuce, tomato and their delicious house-made 1000 island dressing. Options include fresh or grilled onions and white cheddar or American cheese.
If beef isn’t on your menu, a great option is the tasty turkey burger with fresh basil. Burger Lounge also offers their house-made quinoa-based vegetarian hamburger. Chicken tenders and fresh, tossed salads are also available.
Your meal wouldn’t be complete without some of Burger Lounge’s fresh cut French fries or house-made onion rings. If you can’t decide between the two, order the “Half and half” and try them both as they are well worth the calories. Don’t feel too guilty though, as Burger Lounge is a trans-fat free restaurant.
Be sure to save room for one of their famous red velvet cupcakes. They are so huge they could easily be shared but are so good that you probably won’t want to. The milk shakes are equally as good and are made to order, rich and creamy just like they should be.
There are currently four locations to choose from and each one has that signature contemporary, eclectic, clean Burger Lounge style. The restaurants follow the fast-casual dining concept so you order at the counter, find a table and wait for your food. The staff is friendly and helpful bringing your food to you. They are also more than willing to bring you extra napkins, which you will most likely need. The burgers at this restaurant are tender and juicy but also very large and can get quite messy.
Burger Lounge is not only committed to providing a great dining experience but also to protecting the environment. The eatery is one of only a handful of San Diego restaurants to be certified green by the Green Restaurant Association. In order to be certified, a restaurant must meet certain requirements in a few key areas such as sustainable food, water and energy efficiency and conservation, recycling, composting, and pollution prevention. Burger Lounge is leading the way in all of these areas.
So for your next meal, do your part to “go green” and stop into one of Burger Lounge’s convenient locations.
