April Fools’ Day is a holiday dedicated to glorifying all types of hoaxes, jokes, and pranks. There may not be much documentation on the origins of this day, but the lists of best and works pranks are in great abundance, such as YouTube’s prank in 2008 in which all videos, texts, and most links were flipped upside-down.

Etymology of “Nerd”

“Nerd” is a fairly young word, dating back to the early 1950′s where it first appeared in the Dr. Seuss book If I Ran The Zoo. Seuss most likely made the word up, the first recorded instance of “nerd” as a derogatory slang word was in 1951 in Newsweek when it reported on the word being a reference to “drips” or “squares.”
