“The Hunger Games” made its official release on midnight racking in $19.7 million. “The Hunger Games” has already broken the record for the biggest non-sequel midnight opening, and is the seventh biggest opening of all time, trailing only behind movies from the Harry Potter and Twilight series
“The Hunger Games” is not a game. In reality, it’s a story about survival. Starring Jennifer Lawrence at Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark and Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne. Director Gary Ross did the movie justice by bringing the fantasy to life, as real of a story as it can be. It’s both grand and personal.
“21 Jump Street,” starring Channing Tatum and Johan Hill, premiers this Friday, March 16. Tatum and Hill star as former classmates turned undercover police officers Jenko (Tatum) and Schmidt (Hill) who are transferred to the secret Jump Street unit, where they are assigned to go undercover at a local high school to bring down a drug ring selling a new hallucinogenic
Katy Butler started a petition on Change.org urging the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) to soften the current R-rating of “Bully,” an anti-bullying documentary, to a PG-13 rating,. Big names who have also rallied include New Orleans NFL Quarterback Drew Brees, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Ellen DeGeneres, who invited Katy Butler onto her daytime talk show.
“Perfect Sense” offers an intriguing look on human behaviors as their sensory perceptions are deprived when the apocalypse approaches. While the story also focuses on the two central characters, chef ‘Michael’ (Ewan McGregor, “Haywire”) and scientist ‘Susan’ (Eva Green), as a whole, the film is larger than their relationships, chemistry or lack thereof.
This past weekend three must-see movies came out. “A Thousand Words” starring Eddie Murphy, Kerry Washington, Clark Duke, and Cliff Curtis is a hilarious comedy. Disney’s “John Carter” is complete with adventure, alien warfare, and different dimensions. For those who are fans of horror films, “Silent House” starring Elizabeth Olsen takes on a whole new meaning to haunted house.
“Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax” took box office analysts by surprise when they raked in about $71 million at the box office this weekend, making this the biggest opening for an animated film in the history of Universal Studios. “Project X” centers on three friends Thomas (Thomas Mann), Costa (Oliver Cooper), and JB (Jonathan Daniel Brown)and their final attempt to elevate themselves from the bottom of the high school food-chain by hosting an epic party. Project X promises to act as The Hangover’s unruly, crazed teenage counterpart.
“Safe House” starring Denzel Washington (“Unstoppable”) is Tobin Frost, a rogue ex-CIA agent on the run for selling intelligence secrets to the highest bidder. “Journey 2: Mysterious Island” starring: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (“Faster”), Michael Caine (“The Dark Knight”), Josh Hutcherson, Luis Guzman, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis is a wondrous adventure in a mythical world, bursting with colors, filled with lush landscapes, towering waterfalls and fantastical creatures.
