Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the 2012 Golden Globe Awards Ceremony took place last night in Los Angeles. “The Descendants” won Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture by George Clooney. Other winners inlcuded: Meryl Streep for “the Iron Lady,” Michelle Williams for “My Week with Marilyn” and more!

Cyber Monday and Black Friday Deals

It’s almost time for the famous Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals.Stores this year will be scheduled to open as early as 4 a.m., some even at 12 a.m.. The first of the two major shopping days, Black Friday, will happen next Friday, November 25th, which will then be followed by Cyber Monday on November 28th.

This year’s date is more significant due to the fact that the numbers are exactly the same in a sequence. The next time this will happen will be a hundred years from now in the year 2111.

San Diego Celebrates Veterans Day

Veterans Day marks the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I 94 years ago. Today, we celebrate those who have served and those who continue to serve in the US military. Critically acclaimed Blues singer and 2010 Blues Entertainer of the Year Tommy Castro makes his San Diego debut this Saturday at Anthology in Little Italy. Winner of the 2010 Blues Music Award for Entertainer of the Year, Castro, 56, started playing guitar at the age of 10. His music can be described as a combination of blues, soul, and rock and roll.

Ocean Beach to El Cajon has prepared their very own Oktoberfest festival and with many of them happening at different times, you can even catch more than one! Ocean Beach’s Oktoberfest will last two nights, Oct. 7 – 8. Another festival that always satisfies is El Cajon’s Oktoberfest. The band Guggenbach-Buam, from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, will be playing rousing Oom-pah songs while dressed in traditional clothing.

While Oktoberfest got its start in Germany, it has grown much too large for one country to hold and is now known worldwide. Even though the festival’s two weeks of beer and celebration reaches cities all over the world, Oktoberfest is still the largest in its birthplace of Munich, Bavaria, with people from all over the globe attending each year.

San Diego Zoo Food and Wine Celebration this Saturday

The San Diego Zoo is partnering with San Diego-based tech leader Cymer, Inc. this year to bring you the 31st Annual Food & Wine Celebration (formerly known as Celebration for the Critters) for Conservation Research this Saturday, Sept 24. Over 175 local food and beverage vendors will be at the celebration this year, and guests will be able to enjoy live music, a silent auction, the Critter Casino, animal meet-ups, and rides on the Skyfari aerial tram.
