Steven Tyler goes country with “Love is Your Name”

By  |

Steven Tyler is popularly known as the Aerosmith front-man and former American Idol judge. But now, he’ll be known as something brand new. He has slipped on his figurative cowboy boots and is getting ready to release his first country album.

Tyler released the video of his first country single this week. It’s called “Love is Your Name.” It was directed by Trey Fanjoy. Fanjoy has directed over 150 major label music videos including videos for Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw.

The 67-year-old rock icon may be taking his solo music in a new direction, but Tyler said in an interview with local radio station, KSON, that country music has been a strong influence on his life from an early age. He has identified The Everly Brothers, Patsy Cline, and Dan Hicks as artists he listened to growing up.

While the twang and country melodies flow freely in his new song, the vibe is unmistakably Steven Tyler. With that iconic raspy voice, he may just be the newest country music star to hit Nashville.

The album “Love Is Your Name” is being released with Big Machine Label Group and is set to be released later in 2015. The single can be heard on local radio now.

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
