San Diego Local Music Alliance is here!

By  |

To anyone involved in the San Diego music scene, big things are starting to happen. The amount of talent floating around the county is undeniable, the problem is, all those folks whose fingers aren’t right on the pulse of the scene don’t know about a lot of the talent. There used to be San Diego publications that covered the happenings around town but it seems that these folks are more interested in selling their page space to plastic surgeons and medical marijuana facilities (I actually saw one ad that was both of those things combined). What are the people to do? Where are the people to go for their local music fill?

The San Diego Entertainer is proud to introduce the “Local Music Alliance”. We will be featuring San Diego’s top  bands, bringing you free downloads monthly, articles and interviews, show listings, and video of some of our top groups.

Here’s a rundown of the exciting things the Entertainer’s readers don’t want to miss:

The LMA Play list of the Month

Every month, a new playlist will go up for you to download for free! Put it on your I-Pod or a CD, and jam out until the next one comes out. When you’ve listened to the CD you can come back to the SD Entertainer’s website and vote for your favorite song.

The debut Playlist of the Month will be available this Friday, September 11.

Battle of the Bands

Your votes will determine which top 2 bands from each play list will go on to play in a quarterly Battle of the Bands, which will consist of the other play list of the month winners. The winners of these shows will then go on to compete against the other quarterly winners in the yearly final. In order for the competition to be fairly judged we will bring in celebrity and industry professionals that will judge the competitions. The band that wins this will receive a marketing and promotion package from PING Music Group worth over $5,000!

Local Show Coverage

We will be stepping up our efforts to get out, and review as many local shows as possible. We may even bring a video camera or two just to show you the front row experience. Every week we will be guiding you to the shows that our staff has voted a “must see”.

Band Profiling

We will be profiling some of San Diego’s top bands, giving you interviews, video, and maybe even some free music!

Street Patrol

Say you’re at a show that you found on the Entertainer, if you happen to see someone wearing an Entertainer shirt, go up and introduce yourself. They may have amazing prizes for you including t-shirts, gift certificates to local restaurants, and tickets to shows!

Show Listings/Event Database

We are frantically working to create the most comprehensive and up to date directory of San Diego’s local shows and venues. The days of countless searches on MySpace that leave you confused and dejected are no longer going to be an issue. The Local Music Alliance is looking to create a user friendly, concise tool for music fans of all ages and genres.

Entertainer Events and Benefit Shows

In addition to the Battle of the Bands we will also be booking local events that will benefit local charities, much like the SDE-LMA launch party on September 11th.

SDE-LMA Launch Party 9/11

This coming Friday we will be having the launch party for the “Local Music Alliance”. The event will feature bands from the first playlist of the month: Irradio!, Demasiado, and Life in Orbit, also on the bill is Ape Machine from Portland. There is no cover and benefits from the show go to the San Diego Fire and Rescue Department.

When– September 11, show starts at 9

Where– Soda Bar, 3615 El Cajon Blvd. San Diego, 92104

Cover– $0

We will have special drink promotions with the bar, a bunch of swag, and physical copies of the debut Playlist of the Month.

Please come out and help us celebrate the launch of what will quickly become a pillar for local music. The revolution is happening, and the Entertainer is starting it. Don’t be left behind and join us for the beginning of a new age.
