Madonna was rehearsing her show in Udine, Italy, when the collapsed. The stage was in the construction phase for her scheduled July 19th show in France when the roof accidentally fell injuring seven workers and killing one.  Madonna has since released a statement offering her condolences to those affected, saying “I am devastated to have just received this tragic news. My prayers go out to those who were injured and their Families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news.”

The concert scheduled in Marseille has since been canceled. There is no official word yet of the reason for the stage collapse.  The stage was only partially complete at the time and it is suspected that a piece of the sage fell as it was being lifted by a crane, causing the injuries.

The ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour’ has been called a “stunning extravaganza” giving fans a never before seen once-in-a-lifetime experience. The tour played 58 cities last summer to wild critical acclaim for over two and a half million fans. There is no word yet about the status of future tour dates.

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
