FDNY Pipes and Drums Corps performing tonight

By  |

The New York City Fire Department pipe and drum corps will be performing for a charity event at the San Diego Firehouse Museum this afternoon from 6 p.m to midnight. The 25 dollar ticket price includes food and drinks, as well as the chance to win raffle prizes at the event.

The FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums have served within their community for the past 46 years by volunteering for various events, competitions, weddings, and funerals.

Available for various occasions, their work has also become ingrained in American history. They are well known for their dedication after the September 11 events, where they performed at over 450 different funerals in the two years following the World Trade Center attacks. The society is made up of volunteers from both active and retired members of the FDNY, culminating to over 100 members on their current roster.

The San Diego Firehouse Museum dates back to 1962, founded in the former building for San Diego Fire Station #6. Known as one of the premier places to visit in San Diego, its 100 years of fire fighting memorabilia stand as a testament to years of servitude and dedication.

The 25 dollar cover charge will go towards the museum’s funds as well as the USS Midway Museum’s September 11 memorial service that occurs every year.
